Birchwood Tourist Park is situated 2.25 miles north of Wareham railway station, in the County of Dorset and it adjoins Wareham Forest. The Park is for touring caravans/tents/motorcaravans and is set in about 50 acres.
Job Vacancy: Seasonal Assistant Warden Couple
Our family-run Touring Park is set in an open rural setting, surrounded by forest. The Park is in a central location of Dorset, close to Wareham, Poole and the Jurassic coastline.
There are around 175 grass or hardstanding pitches and a computerised booking and till system. We have a shop in our reception, two toilet/shower blocks and laundry, play area and offer caravan storage to our customers and seasonal pitches from March to October. In high season we have an outdoor children’s paddling pool and a pitch and putt golf course. Access onto the Park is by a barrier with vehicle registration plate recognition linked to the customers booking.
Job Vacancy: We are looking for another Warden couple to join our family and team of wardens for the 2017 Season.
The successful candidates should be friendly, helpful with a high level of customer care and have the ability to work as part of a committed team, problem solving and using their own initiative to adapt to each situation.
The vacancy is for a couple to cover all duties including (but not limited to):
Daily cleaning and maintenance of toilet and shower blocks, laundry and outside sinks
Maintaining the Park grounds, grass cutting, strimming, litter picking, reading water meters, cleaning refuse areas, weeding and tidying pitches, general gardening, security checking outbuildings
Showing customers to their pitch and welcoming the guests, helping with enquiries, and knowledge of caravanning issues including electrical trips and general camping safety
Twice daily checking of pool chemical levels and cleaning (full training is given)
Towing caravans and siting on correct pitch
Communicate with the rest of the team using 2-way radios
Reception work, meeting and greeting in person and over the phone, taking bookings and checking customers in. Activating barrier system for customers stay. Assisting in customer enquiries and organising daily pitch arrivals and departures. Using Electric card top up system for seasonal customers and metered electric pitches. General administration such as filing and processing invoices - (Computer experience preferred)
Shop Duties, handling cash and making sales using card processing, date checking, stock rotation and ordering.
1 to 3 evenings per week on rota for duty evening and night warden, on-call for late arrivals, toilet checking, telephone queries and emergencies
And any other tasks involved in assisting in the day to day running of the Park.
General repairs and maintenance to include basic electrical and plumbing work
Full driving licence, towing licence
Previous experience as a campsite warden
Working hours vary depending on how busy the Park is and usually fall between 25 to 45 per week for each person. Hours worked are paid at minimum wage. Each couple work the same days of 5 per week, with 2 set days off. Work will be expected on weekends, bank holidays and a rota for duty warden/ night on call for emergencies (1 to 3 nights per week). A pitch is supplied for the duration of employment so the successful applicant must bring their own motorhome or touring caravan, where electric and water is provided.
The position would start in March until October. Currently there are no hour’s available over the winter months, however this could be reviewed nearer the time depending on circumstances.
